Assign roles

Add, edit or remove family member roles.

  • Verizon Family - Add, Edit or Remove Guardian / Dependent / Member Roles

    • Add a Guardian / Dependent / Member Role

      1. From the Verizon Family app, tap the Family Profiles tab.
      2. Tap the Invite button.
      3. Create a new profile and choose the desired role.

      4. Tap the desired mobile number for the profile.

        To enable someone as a Guardian, they must be 18 or older and on the My Verizon account.
        A Member, must be 18 or older and doesn't need to be on the My Verizon account. Members can be allowed parental controls by a Guardian.
        To enable someone as a Dependent, they must be on the Verizon account.

    • Edit a Guardian / Dependent / Member Role

      Roles can't be edited. To change a user's role, delete the existing profile and create a new profile with the applicable role.
      1. From the Verizon Family app, tap the Family Profiles tab.
      2. Select the family member you want to edit.

      3. Edit any available fields.

        The fields vary based on role.
        • Display name
        • Time zone

        • Date of birth

          Only available for dependents

    • Remove a Guardian / Dependent / Member Role

      1. From the Verizon Family app, tap the Family Profiles tab.
      2. Tap the desired family member.
      3. Tap Delete Profile.
      4. Tap Remove.

When you add a line, the role of that family member will automatically be assigned based on their account role in My Verizon:

  • Account Owner / Account Manager – Guardian
  • Account Member – Dependent

To change a line's role from dependent to guardian, you must add that line to the Account Manager list in My Verizon.

To change a line's role from guardian to dependent, you'll need to remove that line from the Account Manager list in My Verizon.
